Wii Ready to Rock You All Night Long

:

It has finally been announced. Harmonix, MTV Games, and EA have announced the June 22, 2008 release of Rock Band for the Nintendo Wii Entertainment system. The bundle will sell for $169.99. With a total of 63 songs to choose from, including five bonus songs. The drums, microphone and wireless guitar will also be available for purchase separately on June 22nd.

Wii Will Rock You

I would love to see all the functionality from the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions but I am reminded of the down loadable brawler question from earlier this month. Super Smash Bros. Brawl developers said no down loadable content could be offered since the Wii Entertainment system has no internal hard drive. On the other hand Harmonix might find a way around this issue by selling song packs on memory sticks similar to the way SSBB owners share there custom stages.

So let’s all hold our collective breathe that Nintendo figures out how to implement true down loadable content in a future Wii system update. Or at least get some kind of system in place before we all have to upgrade to a new system again.

Rock Band is rated “T” for Teen (lyrics, mild suggestive themes) by the ESRB.
