What’s with Nintendo and launch events lately? First, we had the Mario Kart: Wii event, which had special guest, Jason Priestly in attendance. Now, Wii Fit will be getting its own launch party which is slated to take place in Central Park.

How Can You Have A Huge Fitness Event
And Not Have Richard Simmons As Your Host?
The event will take place on May 19th, the release date for Wii Fit. The event will last from 8am - 5pm (which seems like along time to exercise). Ashley Borden, a semi-famous personal trainer will be conducting workout routines that can be used with Wii Fit. There won’t be any kind of workout contest, but Nintendo will be donating $5 to the American Heart Association for every person that tries out the game.
I keep getting frustrated that I can’t attend any of these launch parties. Although I would be pretty embarrassed at this event as I probably wouldn’t make it 30 minutes. When are you going to come down to Kentucky, Nintendo? If a new Duck Hunt game launches, we’re the perfect location for a launch party.

Hi,
I’m sure Wii Fit will take off in the US, just as it has done in Japan and Europe. But, and here’s the thing…Nintendo’s inability to provide stock will hold back sales. When Wii Fit launched in the UK, April 25th most major stores sold out all of their stock in pre-orders and since launch there’s been next to no copies available.
They’ll have more stock allocated to the US, but with a massive promotional push I’m sure we’ll see the same. It seems to be part of the Nintendo sales strategy to create a “it’s sold out everywhere” buzz around their products which is a shame for people who just want to play.
