For those of us who played, or are still playing Punch-Out!! on the Nintendo Wii know of the greatness it exudes. If we would like to see the franchise continue then we need to let Kensuke Tanabe of Nintendo Software Planning and Development know how much we love it. During an interview with GameInformer magazine, Tanabe had this to say about an impending Punch-Out!! sequel,
“The more requests for a sequel we receive, the more we have to seriously consider it. Personally, I would like to consider making a different type of game than what we have created so far that utilizes the characters of Punch-Out in a new way.”
Simple enough. So it’s in our hands people. If we want a Punch-Out!! sequel to emerge we need to let Nintendo know how much we love it. So, get out there and shout from the rooftops how much you love Punch-Out!! Maybe even drop comments on here, and if there are enough I’ll make sure the appropriate people are made aware.
I’m a bit worried what Tanabe means by saying “I would like to consider making a different type of game”. Does he have a Punch-Out!! RPG cooked up? Or a Punch-Out!! action-adventure game? I would have to say no to those ideas, but I would like to see a bit more polish and tighter gameplay brought to the series. And how about stretching some creative muscles and bring us a new roster of characters.

Punch Out is the game i have played the most on the Wii, and I’d buy the 2nd one in a heartbeat.
