Dead Rising was announced to be coming to the Nintendo Wii. It was a pretty big surprise considering that Dead Rising was a Xbox 360 release, albeit an early one. Still, how will the Nintendo Wii be able to handle a Dead Rising port? Will they be able to get an insane amount of zombies on screen at once like they did on the Xbox 360?
The first questions have been answered. The Nintendo Wii version of Dead Rising won’t look quite as good as the Xbox 360 (duh). But Capcom has come out and said that the game will be able to feature as much as 100 zombies on screen at once. This is good to know, as the whole reason that Dead Rising was so immersive was the amount of zombies that were present on the screen.
Ok, so we know that the Wii will be able to handle a great number of undead. The next obvious question is how will the Nintendo Wii version be different? Will motion controls play a vital role in the gameplay? And, probably the most important question, is the broked save system fixed?

IGN, has been able to find out most of these answers and it’s looking good. The pointing and motion detecting Wii Remote will be used when equipping a gun. You simply point the Wii Remote at the screen where you want to aim, and the reticule will even flash red on weak parts of the zombies. Reloading will be carried out with a simple waggle of the Wii Remote. The waggling of the remote doesn’t end there, as shaking the Wii Remote will be used to shake off zombies. You will also waggle to give melee weapons an extra bit of power.
So far I’m liking some of the features to be announced. Hearing about all this makes me think that Capcom is really trying to release a solid product with Dead Rising: Chop Til You Drop. I’m concerned that they might be going waggle happy, and sometimes more isn’t necessarily better. But I’ll save judgement until I get my hands on it.
