Vacation Killed My Wii Fit Score…And More News

I just now noticed that I didn’t give warning for my week long absence. I apologize for that, but I guess I got caught up in the excitement for my upcoming vacation. I was in Hilton Head for all of last week, laying out in the sun and eating my weight in crab legs and She-Crab soup. Unfortunately, while on vacation I didn’t really keep up with any of my blogs, so again I apologize.

Either the video game gods, or karma bit me, as my vacation really hindered my Wii Fit score. I took Wii Fit on vacation and did about a 30 minute workout each morning. The rest of the time I spent lazing around, and eating my weight at seafood buffets. While I’m sure most of the places lost money on all the food I ate, my BMI kept increasing instead of decreasing everyday I checked it. I must boast that I was finally able to get a four star rating of 90 pts. on the “Tree Pose”. That one legged pose had been giving my problems from the get-go, as for some reason balancing on one leg was a physical impossibility for me. But enough about my vacation and Wii Fit updates, let’s get to some news.

Today, one of the more anticipated WiiWare titles releases. Gyrostarr is an on-rails space shooter from High-Voltage Software. I received a press release from High Voltage last week, so I figured that I would share some of the details for people who haven’t been keeping up with the title.

“Gyrostarr features fast action gameplay across 50 intense levels as up to four players pilot ships on a futuristic track, shooting enemies, dodging obstacles, and collecting upgrades. The game takes advantage of the company’s proprietary Quantum 3 Game Engine technology, which provides advanced graphical capabilities. Gyrostarr’s controls were built from the ground up to utilize the motion-sensing capabilities of the Wiiâ„¢.”

That paragraph from High Voltage pretty much summarizes what Gyrostarr is about. In videos, and screenshots that I’ve seen I must say that I’m pretty impressed with the graphics so far. If anything it’s refreshing to see a developer try and push the boundaries of the Wii from a technological standpoint. High Voltage is the dev company behind the much anticipated Conduit, a FPS which is pretty far from release but again going by screenshots and videos is already looking pretty darn impressive.

For people interested in Gyrostarr, it releases today at 700 Wii Points. Here is a trailer for Gyrostarr if you haven’t had a chance to view it yet…

So who is going to be downloading Gyrostarr today? Are you impressed with Quantum 3 Game Engine? Feel free to leave your comments down below

Thats better than mine, My Wii Fit score seems to be random. One time it’s 23 the next time it’s 58. I think it depends on your balance tests- and I am never closing my eyes again.

Johnny, Hilton Head and Beaufort are my childhood stomping grounds and both are nice to visit. I am glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. I am actually nervous about going on vacation next week because what my Wii Fit score will be when I get back. Like you the tree pose gives me some problems but kudos to you for getting a 90!
