Okami: Today’s Big Release

Ready At Dawn, and Capcom are slated to release their cult hit “Okami” today for the Wii. If you want to find a game that feels as though it was made for the Wii, you need not look any further than Okami. Clover Studio, is responsible for the PS2 release of Okami, and was also behind the Viewtiful Joe series. Ready At Dawn, who released Daxter and God of War: Chains of Olympus on the PSP, is responsible for the porting of Okami to the Wii.

Okami, which translates to “great god”, follows the tale of Amaterasu, the Shito Sun Goddess. Amaterasu, takes the form of a white wolf, which travels the land to track down Orochi, an eight-headed demon. What makes the game stand out, is its’ unique style of gameplay. You will use your wii-remote much like a paint brush. All of the attacks and moves are executed from painting different objects, and actions on the screen.

The original Okami, received numerous awards, including IGN’s Game Of The Year in 2006. With the paint brush style of gameplay, it looks as though Okami will have a nice home on Wii consoles today. Will you be making an Okami purchase? Feel free to leave your comments about the game below.
