There is a list of third party developers listed at the CodeNameRevolution blog. It’s a pretty huge list and of course, the big developers like Atari, Capcom, Eidos, Lucasarts, EA, THQ, Raven and Sega are all listed. You also see developers like Shiny (Earthworm Jim, Messiah etc…), former Nintendo second party Left Field Production (Excitebike 64) and Pandemic (Star Wars: Battlefront, Destroy All Humans). Lots of great developers of some really cool titles in other words. The CodeNameRevolution post adds that some of the developers on the list haven’t officially confirmed support yet but they didn’t indicate which ones. You can check the full list of Wii developers on their blog.
But why not? I have posted before and I guess I’ll post it again… of course developers are going to develop for the Wii. Sure the controls are different and require a singular approach. Oh, and yes, the graphics processing isn’t the equal of the PS3 and 360. Neither of those things are going to keep developers from developing titles for the Wii however.
If for no other reason… just consider the money involved. There are about 5 million Wiis sold as of now and with an additional 14 million projected to be snatched up by a game hungry public between now and March of 2008. Any developer would be absolutely foolish to not want to have titles that plug into some 20 million consoles.
