Suda 51, Executive Producer Of No More Heroes 2 Interview

No More Heroes 2

I’ve never been shy about expressing my criticisms towards the original No More Heroes, specifically relating to overused gameplay mechanics and some of the controls. However, those criticisms are balanced out by an incredible sense of style that was present in NMH. Also, just the aspect of the game being so different than anything else out there.

Suda 51, the executive producer behind No More Heroes and the upcoming sequel NHM2: Desperate Struggle was recently interviewed by Ubisoft. Yes, the company that is publishing NMH2: Desperate Struggle in the US; so don’t expect any hard hitting questions.

There might not be anything juicy to report on, but I was very impressed with Suda 51′s views on game development. Particularly this answer he gave in response to a question about limiting expression,

“So actually, we didn’t set ourselves any limits for No More Heroes 2 like we did for the first No More Heroes. You don’t need to put any limits when it comes to raw expression and limiting expression is just something set up by people to please other people.”

A nice sentiment indeed. Just imagine the crazy and zany games we could have if corporate big wigs didn’t have to be happy with the results.

I highly recommend watching the interview as Suda 51 provides some wonderful insights into the upcoming No More Heroes sequel. Even with the problems I found with the original, I can’t wait for the second helping.
