Still Gunning for a Nintendo Zapper

It was widely reported last month that Gamestop’s website had what was hoped to be Nintendo’s official Wii-generation Zapper gun. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately if you’re like me and thought it looks horrible), the Wii blaster shown was in fact just another third party peripheral made by Core Gamer.

To the best of my knowledge, we still don’t have any word on an official Nintendo Zapper. There have been some pictures floating around of what is supposed to be an official Wii Zapper. There have also been several 3rd party ‘guns’ announced/talked about like; Joytech’s Sharp Shooter, the W14 Piranha and now Core Gamer’s Wii Blaster (which I assume will be listed with their other peripherals upon release).

I hope the Nintendo image we’ve seen has evolved a little bit. I don’t really dig the concept of having to hold a zapper gun with two hands - which is how that E3 image kinda looks like to me. Of course, looking at it, I suppose your trigger controls could be on the nunchuk for 1 handed zappage… I dunno. I was just kind of thinking it’d be cool to have the nunchuk free for movement etc… and where is the cable in that image?
