Star Wars: The Force Unleashed PVP Video

My hands are still shaking, so if you catch a couple of grammar mistakes, forgive me. My uncontrollable shaking hands can be attributed to the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video I just got done watching. Unlike alot of video game junkies, I’ve never been a huge stickler for gameplay videos. I’d rather just play the game with a clean slate, but I must admit sometimes my curiosity gets the best of me. After taking a gander at this G4 exclusive video, curiosity hasn’t killed this cat, but has left him very excited.

I was a huge Jedi Outcast/Jedi Academy nerd. You could say I was a minor celebrity, evoking fear whenever I entered a server. But alas, there hasn’t been a competent lightsaber wielding game since. While Star Wars: The Force Unleashed looks like it won’t be adopting the same system, I have to say I’m impressed with the combat. While I can’t give complete judgement after a three minute video, I will say it looks like the action is pretty tight and responsive. When the video first got into the Orbital arena, I was instantly reminded of the arenas in Power Stone. Where most of the objects could be interacted with, and you could freely move about the arena where you please. Another aspect I was impressed with was the amount of characters that could be selected. You could see how each character had different attributes, and having more of a selection than “less” is always a good thing. The graphics looks to be shaping up nicely as well, considering we still have until September before the release. With a little more shine, the game looks like it could impress graphically.

I’ll probably have sleepless nights, dreaming of modding my wii remote into a lightsaber, and owning Darth Maul using thirteen year olds online. So what are your thoughts on the G4 video, are you impressed or do you think this will only reach “prequel” status?
