Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Description: Very little needs to be said about Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The game follows Darth Vader’s apprentice as he makes his mark on the galaxy.
The Wii version of The Force Unleashed has a heavy emphasis on the wii remote controls. Unlike the PS3/Xbox 360 version, the game features a robust multi-player option. The character roster is ample, and you’ll more than likely find your favorite character there.
Published: Lucas Arts
Developed: Krome Studios
Release Date: September 16th, 2008

Reviews:
Gamespot – 6.0/10: “So if you’re hankering to wave around your remote and slash up Jawas, this is your chance, though The Force Unleashed may not be as raucously entertaining as you may have expected. Nevertheless, if you’ve got five or six hours to kill, this is a decent way to spend them, particularly if you’re a Star Wars devotee looking to fill in the gaps between Episodes III and IV.”
IGN – 7.8/10: “It can be a blast to play, and using the nunchuk and Wii-mote for force powers is unrivaled when compared to any other control scheme, but the gameplay isn’t strong enough on its own to make up for the overall rushed feeling in the game. LucasArts and Krome tried to make the experience unique on every platform by adding in the duel mode on Wii, and while it’s a nice touch, we can’t help but think of how the PSP version (again, also made by Krome) was privy to not only a vs. mode of its own, but an additional challenge and survival mode as well.”
GameSpy – 3.5/5 Stars: “Force Unleashed may not be the mind-blowingly awesome “Star Wars” game that it was hyped to be, but thanks to some cool play mechanics and good use of the Wii Remote it’s still a fun (if flawed) ride. With a bit of tweaking it could be great, so hopefully a sequel will pop up sometime down the road.”
MetaCritic Score: 71/100

So I picked up “The Force Unleashed” last night for the Wii. First, off, it’s cheaper by $10 than the other consoles – I’m always down for saving money. I wanted to trade in my Super Smash Bros because I never play that, but I loaned it to my friend Carlos about 3 months ago and he’s been playing it ever since. So someone’s using it. Also, he’s 10.
The game is really interesting, in a lot of different ways. The controls are really my favorite part. You can pick up items with the force, throw items, pick up people, choke people (you play as Darth Vader on the first level, and it’s wonderful) and there are a lot of different control combinations. There seems to be an accelerometer in the nunchuck, which I hadn’t realized. (I guess Wii Sports Boxing is the only other game I know that takes advantage of that.)
The graphics are – eh. Good enough, I guess. Nothing to write home about. I do have the Wii 480p component cables, which I haven’t hooked up. That might help a little. (The reason I haven’t hooked them up is that our cable box connects to the TV via component and we only have one set of component inputs on there. I know, why don’t I use the HDMI cable from the cable box to the TV? Because if you do, the S-Video box from the cable box is blocked. Which is ridiculous. But the S-Video port is the only way to record certain channels.)
The game is also … a little violent for my liking. You’re a dark Jedi and all but it’s a little rough. It does have a “Teen” rating, so … maybe it’s just me. I kind of missed the happiness of Lego Star Wars there.
Anyway, I highly recommend overall. Trade in a game you never play, or get $50 by selling something you don’t need.

I got this game the other day for the Wii. It looks pretty good graphically in my opinion. (I have it on 480p.)I do wish it was a Wii-specific developed title and not just a port over from the PS2…but bleh. The physics in the game are great, the controls are fun and pretty easy to use. I find targetting relatively simple as well. I love the action or violence in the game. It gives you the feeling that you are the all powerful Jedi. I was skeptical about getting it due to lackluster reviews and the fact that it is apparently a short game. I am glad I went and got it though. I do walk everywhere in the game, so I can explore the areas better as make it last longer. Overall a very fun game and great story so far.

I’m a fan of Star Wars so I love this game but I agree too, it’s a bit violent.
