Reggie Interview @ DICE 2007

:

Everyone’s favourite COO, Reggie Fils-Aime, recently spoke to Mercury News at the recent DICE convention this week.

As per usual, the Regginator was quick offer his thoughts and feelings over the competition and - naturally - the continuing success of the company’s latest home console, Wii. See below for what he had to say.

-Regarding Bill Gate’s comment on the Wii not being in competition with the 360, Fils-Aime stated “When you’re as rich as Bill is, you can say anything. They have done some things that are brilliant at Microsoft. We want to bring gaming back to the masses. Consumers are voting with their wallets and pocketbooks.”

-On the flip side, Reggie doesn’t feel that PS2 is in direct competition with the Wii.

-Reggie also addressed critics who label the Wii as a novelty, suggesting “I wonder if they saw Zelda? It has 90 hours of game play.”

-He’s also pretty optimistic on the Wii catching up to the Xbox 360 in terms of sales, adding “The question is when, that’s going to be driven by our own sales rate and getting good software released at the right time. It’s clear they are slowing down. It’s not unthinkable to see that next year we could surpass their installed base.”

-Reggie stated that Metroid is looking and playing excellent. Meanwhile, he also confirmed that Pokemon: Battle Revolution would be the first Wii game to include online play in the US.

Where will the Regginator strike next? Who knows, but be sure he’s kicking “you-know-what” and taking names somewhere around the globe.
