Reggie Fils-Aime Wants 1.5-2 Million Units Sold For Metroid: Other M

In this pseudo-interview from Gamespot, I never heard any actual questions being asked, Reggie Fils-Aime talks about a wide array of topics concerning Nintendo. He talks about Nintendo’s E3 keynote, and what Nintendo was wanting to accomplish at the conference.

Later into the video Fils-Aime begins talking about Nintendo’s first party franchises, particularly Metroid: Other M. I find it quite surprising that he’s already putting expectations on a game that isn’t coming out until next year. Here are Fils-Aime exact words,

“Metroid is a key franchise, and in our view really since the Snes Metroid, we havent broken through in terms of 1.5 - 2 millions units. Thats our bar. Thats the scale that we look at to say on a global basis this is effective.”

Reg then explains about how Nintendo could have kept the game in-house for development, but wanted to branch out to other developers. They eventually landed on Team Ninja, who’s looking to explore deeper into Metroid’s mythology.

Overall an interesting interview, or speech, or whatever you want to call it. Enjoy
