Red Steel 2 Delayed Until 2010

I don’t know if it’s the wisdom I’ve developed through the years, or that I’m just desensitized to it now. I don’t care about video game delays anymore though. Many of my favorite games ever I’ve had to wait a long time for. Many of those titles releasing before the widespread use of the internet, so news about them was few and far between. So after hearing about the delay of Red Steel 2, from Joystiq I simply shrugged my shoulders.

Yes, Red Steel 2 is a game I’m excited to try out but I’m glad Ubisoft is taking a chance by delaying it. While we live in this “have it now” society, we forget that with game delays come better quality.

Ok, now that I’m off my soapbox I can tell you that Red Steel 2 has been delayed until March 2010. Here’s a quote from Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft,

“We really think with the level of quality that we’ll be able to obtain with the time we give them we will have a long shelf life for those products…Now, because [Conviction and Red Steel 2] are launching during that quarter, they will not do as many units for the first month as they would have done in November/December, but we think that on the long-term they can achieve more units than what they would’ve done.”
