Generally, I’m not a fan of posting scans of magazines that you should rightfully buy if you want to see the content. However, Famitsu isn’t available stateside so I don’t mind posting these scans of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.
They show off some screenshots of levels previously unseen. Also, we get to see all of the Koopa Kids congregated together. I’m hoping for a little sub plot where the Koopa Kids are secretly trying to disintegrate Bowser Jr. Hey, one can hope.

There have been some amazing holiday seasons in video game history, but I think for the Nintendo Wii 2009 could be it’s best yet. We’ve got New Super Mario Bros. Wii to look forward to, and the upcoming fighter Tatsunoko vs. Capcom soon after. If you’re giddy with anticipation then you should be glad to know that the final characters of the game have been revealed.
First, is Joe the Condor which if you’re a fan of Gatchaman should help complete the roster from the anime series. I personally must plead ignorance as I’ve never watched one episode of the series. Here’s a character design screen for those who are jonesin’ for some Joe the Condor.

The second character reveal will have you screaming with delight if you’re a fan of the Mega Man X series. The fan favorite, Zero, will be swinging his green energy sword all over some chumps come January. After watching his gameplay video, he will play completely different than Mega Man which is a treat, because of their different play styles throughout the years. Below is a character screen, and gameplay video.

I must admit that I had completely forgot about Demo Play, and it’s inclusion with New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It seems that perhaps Nintendo forgot about the feature as well, because as it stands we have two different descriptions for the ‘help along’ system coming with the platform title.
During E3 earlier this year, Miyamoto spoke about Demo Play and how it would be implemented in New Super Mario Bros. Wii,
“In New Super Mario Bros. Wii, if a player is experiencing an area of difficulty, this will allow them to clear troubled areas and take over when they’re ready” confirmed Miyamoto, through his translator. “And yes, we’re looking into this for future games, too”
This description is completely different from Nintendo’s official New Super Mario Bros. Wii page: “New Super Mario Bros. Wii is also the first Nintendo game to feature a dynamic help system, which allows you to access a mode showing how a level can be completed if you are stuck. The best thing about this mode is that you are free to jump into the action you’re watching on screen at any time!”
The logical reasoning is that Demo is exactly the same as when Miyamoto described it, he just talked about it differently. As it stands now though, no one is sure if Demo Play will take the game over for you or just show you what to do.
Happy Friday everybody, hopefully these new screens and boxart provide that catalyst for an amazing weekend. Toads get to ride on Yoshi? I say - blasphemy!!

Reading the title of this post many of you might be scratching your head. How could a price cut ever be a bad move? Nintendodpad has brought up an interesting point, and one worth looking a bit deeper into regarding potential negative effects of a price drop.
Here’s a quote from the author and sums up how he/she feels about the situation, “With the Toys R Us ad leaking yesterday, I can’t help but question why this may be the dumbest decision Nintendo has made all generation.”
So, you can see why this is a wonderful topic for debate. The author for Nintendodpad believes that the price drop is a mistake because it’s a sign of Nintendo not focusing on what brought people to the Nintendo Wii in the first place. Which is attributed to the software. Instead of worrying about Microsoft and Sony dropping their price, Nintendo should instead find ways to develop software that drives the consumer base to the hardware.
Ok, enough of speculative rumors and teaser images/trailers. Here’s a gameplay trailer for a game we know is coming out this year, and will feature Mario, Luigi, and two toad dudes. This video was taken at PAX and shows off a bit of Yoshi gameplay. And dare I say the stage with the falling and flipping components look like the old school Mario difficulty I like.
