Rushed to market in order to compete with the Sega Mega Drive, it is part of the PC Engine / TurboGrafx-16 family but contains only modest enhancements to the original system, which had arrived a few years earlier in 1987 to incredible commercial success in Japan.

We all know that the PlayStation was originally supposed to be a fusion of the SNES with a CD-ROM drive, and that Sony actually got as far as creating a working prototype, which resurfaced a few years ago.

However, YouTube modder James Channel has taken this concept to the next level, creating a SNES which plays PlayStation games – and, as you can see from the video below, it's as crazy as you'd think.

This is an M.2 SSD-based device that plugs into the serial port 1 slot on your Nintendo GameCube and allows you to store and quickly load games with fewer audio glitches and better compatibility than many of its contemporaries.
