The Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller is on sale now.

8BitDo has recently announced the Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller — the next evolution of its popular third-party controller (thanks RetroDodo for the spot!).

The brand-new device was revealed yesterday and is already available to order on 8BitDo's store and Amazon. It will cost $59.99 and is compatible with Windows 10 (or above) devices via 2.4GHz or a USB-C cable, as well as Android 9.0 (or above) devices through a BlueTooth LE connection. Unlike its predecessor, the Nintendo Switch sadly doesn't seem to be among its list of supported platforms, with some online speculating this could potentially be due to the impending arrival of the Switch 2.

Read the full article on timeextension.com

Guide: Gaming's Best 'Leftfield' Control Interfaces, Ranked

If it's not a pad or stick, it might be on this list...

We all love console gaming – it’s probably the reason why you’re here reading this. Like us, you've probably spent a disproportionate amount of time fiddling with controllers and accessories over the years, many of which were swiftly adopted (and many just as quickly forgotten).

The NES Zapper, the absolutely mad analogue TV aerial for the Game Gear, the near-mythical Power Glove – we could go on. But as video games have risen to become the dominant home entertainment juggernaut that they are today, it feels like some of that uniqueness has been squeezed out to make room for consistent, mainstream functionality.

Read the full article on timeextension.com

Review: RetroSix Super GamePad - The Perfect Replacement For Your Old SNES Controller

Well, that's just super.

As well built as your typical console controller is, it's inevitable that it will eventually stop working or develop a fault. When you consider that consoles like the SNES and Mega Drive / Genesis are now well over 30 years old and arguably past their expected operational lifespans, it's remarkable that their respective pads still function at all.

With that in mind, you may find yourself in a situation where your beloved (and battered) controller has finally given up the ghost, and you're in the market for a replacement. We've already experienced the brilliance of 8BitDo's replacement SNES controllers, and Retro-Bit also has a solid option on the market in the form of its Legacy16 pad. However, there's always room for more choice – especially when you consider how much affection there continues to be for Nintendo's 16-bit console – so we were keen to check out RetroSix's offering, the Super GamePad.

Read the full article on timeextension.com
