Here I was sitting at my desk, thinking that the only news from Nintendo would be at their conference tomorrow. Apparently, I was mistaken as a new wii remote accessory was unveiled earlier today (maybe sticking it to Microsoft before their conference starts). The accessory is called the Wii MotionPlus, which will give the wii remote better responsiveness for motion controls.

Here’s the official press release from Nintendo:
NINTENDO INTRODUCES THE WII MOTIONPLUS
July 14, 2008
Nintendo’s upcoming Wii MotionPlus accessory for the revolutionary Wii Remote controller again redefines game control, by more quickly and accurately reflecting motions in a 3-D space. The Wii MotionPlus accessory attaches to the end of the Wii Remote and, combined with the accelerometer and the sensor bar, allows for more comprehensive tracking of a player’s arm position and orientation, providing players with an unmatched level of precision and immersion. Every slight movement players make with their wrist or arm is rendered identically in real time on the screen, providing a true 1:1 response in their game play. The Wii MotionPlus accessory reconfirms Nintendo’s commitment to making games intuitive and accessible for everyone. Nintendo will reveal more details about the Wii MotionPlus accessory and other topics Tuesday morning at its E3 media briefing.
Hopefully we’ll be getting more details from Nintendo tomorrow at the conference, so I can put my two cents in.

Good news! Finally,Nintendo takes its steps to improve the Wiimote accuracy. But the problem is if this wiimotion will be a new wiimote or they just publish a new peripheril?I do not want to buy such accessory if it cost me a lot.
This is good and will help when playing Archery on Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games!
I reckon this will be peripheral. The pictures show an add-on.
When will this become available?
Going by Reggie Fils-Aime statement at the E3 conference, he made it seem like it will come bundled with Wii Sports Resort, which he said would be available Spring of next year…but no official dates have been announced as of yet
