Nintendo Wii Internet Channel Is Free

Nintendo Wii Internet Channel

Nothing is truly free in this world, unless you’re talking about Nintendo Wii’s Internet Channel — that is now free of charge. Nintendo has formally announced that the Opera-based Wii browser is going to be free of charge. Something that hasn’t happened since launch.

The browser cost 500 Wii Points for those who didn’t download it way back when. If you happened to download the browser, paid for it, and are pissed at this decision just simmer down. Nintendo has stated that for those who have the channel, you’ll have a choice at a NES, SNES, and Nintendo 64 VC title. The offer expires in October so get on it.

    Will I be able to stream video’s with the flash update?

  2. Ronk Says:

    I paid for mine about 6 months ago. Are they still going to give me a credit I wonder?

  3. Jim Says:

    If I HAVE the channel, but I got it free, do I still get a free game?! They should do something to incentivize early adopters!

  4. JohnnyV Says:

    @Chris R - If they’re flash based then I don’t see why they wouldn’t

    As for the free game questions. You’re not going to get credit back Ronk, that’s why they’re doing the free game idea. And Jim, since we got it for free I doubt we’ll get anything in return. A nice shiny ‘Early Adopters’ certificate?? ;) I’d much rather have a game too.

  5. Matthew Says:

    It says and? We get 3?
