Next-gen Star Wars not on Wii?

It seems that Jedi’s will be embracing the power of the control pad rather than the Wii mote later this year, if reports are to be believed.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has just been announced for a number of consoles including PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS, yet, nothing of a Wii version has been confirmed.

The game, due for release later this year, pits you in the shoes of Darth Vader’s young apprentice as you hunt the remaining Jedi down throughout the universe (it’s set between Episdoe III and IV)

However, LucasArts had the following to say on the conspicuous absence of a Wii outing - “Even if that version does happen, it probably wouldn’t be ‘the lightsaber game’ that gamers have eagerly been awaiting.”
An ambiguous responce indeed, and perhaps not what fans of the series were hoping for, especially given the potential of the Wii-mote at hand . We’ll keep you posted on any developments.
