New VC Titles for 4/30/2007

:

It looks like another good day for VC releases. These guys have been on a serious roll lately as far as I’m concerned and today looks like no exception.

First on the list is the classic NES incarnation of Castlevania. For those of you who, like me, spent many many hours in vampire killing induced euphoria - grabbing this one for 500 points ($5) is a no-brainer. It might be considered a little short in terms of length by today’s standards (only six levels). It was a really fun game nonetheless.

From the SNES this week we’re getting The Legend of the Mystical Ninja. I have to plead ignorance on this one - I’ve never played it. About all I can tell you about this one is what I read in the Wikipedia entry. It’s apparently a 1-2 player co-op adventure game wherein one character can piggy back on the other. if you’ve played this one much and care to enlighten me… please feel free.

This week’s update also includes a Turbografx title called Shockman. For this one, I don’t even have a good Wikipedia link. I didn’t have a Turbografx though, so I generally won’t be able to comment much on the these titles. Sega, NES, SNES, N64 and my Atari 2600 were all I could fit into my TV stand.

I’m giving high marks on this week’s VC release though simply on the nostalgia power of Castlevania alone.

I probably spent more money renting The Legend of the Mystical Ninja than it would have cost to buy it when I was a kid. This game is an amazing blend of sidescrollers, puzzle, and RPG elements that is great with one or two players. There are also a ton of minigames (even Gradius!) along with the entertaining and humorous straightforward gameplay.

It’s a definate buy for me and a great title, especially for eight bucks!

Dig. That’s good enough for me. I’ll snatch it up based on that endorsement alone.

i think that the old nes and snes games cost to dam much , for example i can go to a flee market and get these games for under a buck . i think to pay 5$ for a 15 years old game is insane

    $5?

That barely covers a gallon of gas anymore. I think it’s a fair price.
