Today I’m doing a two’fer, meaning you will getting double the dose of WiiBlog postings. I was kind of a ‘negative Nancy’ in my first post, as I guess a Castlevania fighting game will do that to me. Luckily, there was some other gaming news to surface to bring a smile back to my face. Apparently, it was announced at the end of last week that a brand new 8-bit Mega Man game is in the works.

To some this might seem like a step backwards, but I see it as a tribute to glory Mega Man days of old. I mean let’s face it, the 3D Mega Mans (Men) haven’t held up to snuff. A game like this would be considered a rip-off if released in retail, so thankfully we will be seeing it on the WiiWare download service. No price has been announced but my psychic powers are telling me that 800 points sounds about right.
The only major announcement for the game so far is the enemy list:
- Magma Man
- Galaxy Man
- Jewel Man
- Concrete Man
- Hornet Man
- Plug Man
- Tornado Man
- Splash WOMAN (unconfirmed)
Again, if this were a big box release I would be skeptical, as a 8-bit game this day and age would still be a rip-off at even $19.99. Luckily, we now have the WiiWare download service, so $8 seems like a reasonable price to go back old school for some mega-buster action.
I think this is the perfect time to resurrect Dr Wily, the true Mega Man villain. What do you all think, are you excited about some throwback Mega Man action?
