This could rack up as being one of the greatest mornings/days ever. You never complain when you only work half a day, and enjoy one of the most perfect days outside. I’ve been giddy since I’ve woken up, but now there’s even more reason for my smile to get bigger. It was announced today that Madden 09 now has a cover athlete. While news like this usually gets a shoulder shrug, this year’s athlete has me intrigued. I won’t ruin the surprise for you, and just let you view this video from Gametrailers.com.
If you hadn’t guessed yet I’m a huge cheese-head. Since around the early 90′s when I first started watching the pigskin sport, I’ve been a fan of the green and yellow. For a good portion of my life, Brett Favre has been one of the few heroes I have. The way he played the game with reckless abandon, and was successful at it more times than not shows just how good he was. It’s interesting to see EA go this route with putting a retired player on the cover of the game, which hasn’t been done since Barry Sanders. While this news will undoubtedly leave a frown on other fan’s faces, Favre has earned a right in the EA Cover Art Hall of Fame. While I’ve been reading alot of forums saying Brady should have been the poster boy this year, I say maybe EA doesn’t want cheaters for their covers (sorry I couldn’t resist). So what’s your opinion of this years Madden 09 cover athlete, yay or nay?

If they replace him with Joe Buck, they could change the name to Buck ’09.

@Nash
how many games have you been to. I’m still waiting for my first one as I’ve lived in KY my whole life. Haven’t been able to make my way up there yet
