Great Nintendo Commercials From Yester-Year

Commercials and advertisements are something that we tend to grumble over (Just get 24 back on so I can watch Jack Bauer save us from nuclear holocaust!!). Until they’re about 2-3 years old, then we can look back at the good ol’ days. The WHASSUPP!! commercials..ahhh..give me those times again. Ok, not really but here are some great Nintendo commercials chronicling how the company has grown through the years in terms of advertisement.

Thanks to for doing the hard work in finding these classics…

First, we have a commercial that pretty much demonstrates advertising in the early 90’s/late 80’s. Just mix rap music with suburbia-like white teens, who listen to the rap to rebel against their parents..and VOILA, we have a NES Legend of Zelda commercial…

Ahhh man… that Super Mario Bros. 3!?…You know I have to check this movie out. Fred Savage as the main star, that’s just the cherry on top.

Ok, what could beat grimace inducing nerd video game rap and The Wizard? Well, Paul Rudd of course, demonstrating the awesomeness that is/was the SNES…in an abandoned drive-in theater no less.

Ok, the final commercial is still my all time favorite Nintendo commercial. What’s better than mellowing out to The Turtles – So Happy Together? Listening to the song while people dressed as the Nintendo mascots battle it out in a daisy laden field. Nintendo commercials need to go back to this brand of advertising IMO.

What are some of your favorite ads from Nintendo over the years? Feel free to share them below.

The Smash Bros. commercial is still one of my favorites of all time.

Just imagine how fun it would be to film that.
