Finally, the game with the second greatest soundtrack ever (the first being Contra) is hitting the Wii via the Virtual Console. And the game itself is pretty sweet too.
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest is now downloadable for 500 points ($5) through the Wii Shop Channel according to Gamasutra.

I spent many hours of my childhood hooked on this game originally for the NES, sitting on the floor hypnotized by the spectacular score (commonplace for the Castlevania franchise), wandering through the towns, marshes, and mansions looking for Dracula’s body parts so I could put him back together and kill him again to break the curse that he placed on the townspeople that turned them to zombies at nightfall.
If you’ve played it you know exactly what I’m talking about. If not, now you can enjoy this masterpiece of a game and see for yourself.
For some samples of the aforementioned score, you can find some here (not to mention classic tunes from many other NES games).
Do yourself a favor. Go download Castlevania 2 and follow Simon on his ultimate Quest to put the count back together again.
Other Virtual Console additions are two games that I’ve never even heard of, Samurai Ghost (Turbo Grafx 16 [and I actually had one of those]) and Magician Lord (Neo Geo).

I would also like to give honorable mention to Double Dragon, The Legend of Zelda, Rad Racer, RC Pro-am, Excite Bike and Wizards & Warriors for having spectacular soundtracks as well.
