Deadly Creatures….I Just Pee’d My Pants

The last time that bugs and the Nintendo Wii got together it didn’t turn out so great (Escape From Bug Island…*shudders*). Just don’t tell THQ about that one, because they are bringing more creepy-crawly action to the Wii.

Deadly Creatures will have gamers taking control of the tarantula and scorpion. These two creatures are probably the creepiest I’ve ever come across in the animal kingdom. You will navigate them through the world, as you come across perilous obstacles, like humans and snakes.

When I first heard of the game, I pretty much scoffed and laughed at an attempt to sell some cheap fodder for the Wii. The more I check out trailers, and previews the more Deadly Creatures has been catching my eye. The videos that I’ve been able to watch really show off a dark, and dank setting with some atmospheric music in the background. The textures for the creatures so far are shaping up pretty well. The game has awhile to go yet with an October 08 release, so there’s plenty of time to add some polish.

Rainbow Studios is the development team behind the project. Their biggest release so far has been ‘Cars’ which was a pretty decent movie-to-game rendition. So far I’m not totally sold on Deadly Creatures, but I’m definitely much more interested than when I first heard of the project.

Here are some trailers for you to check out. Do you think Deadly Creatures has a shot at being a worthwhile title, or is it simply another game just banking on the success of the Wii?
