You have to hand it to Capcom they know how to poke a bit of fun at themselves. In their history they have been renowned for creating some of the best fighting games of all time. Some of these games include a ‘vs’ theme, where Capcom characters face off against properties outside their brand (Marvel, SNK).

Keeping in spirit with their ‘vs’ line, Capcom has created a contest. They want all of us to devise the next Capcom vs. title. It can be something serious or a joke, and they’re giving out free swag to boot. Have fun with it, here are some of my ideas.

Not even a month ago, the news dropped that Disney had purchased the comic book company Marvel. This led to a series of reactions from fans. First, there was the insane doubters who burned their Marvel books in defiance and vowed to never read a Marvel comic again. Then you had those who were apprehensive but was wanting to see what Disney plans for the purchase.

My favorite reaction though was the fan art, and after looking through some of it I think a Capcom vs. Marvel/Disney matchup isn’t too far fetched of an idea. If Mickey can be a complete badass in Kingdom Hearts, then I think this could work.

At first thought this sounds like it would be an astronomically bad idea. What I think some people fail to realize is some of the creations from Jim Henson that would work. The Dark Crystal, and Labyrinth have some characters that could give Ryu and friends a run for their money. Plus, who wouldn’t want to see a David Bowie stylized character going toe-to-toe with M. Bison?

This is easily the biggest pipe dream out of all my ideas. The property rights alone would be a nightmare to wade through just to allow a collaboration like this. If it did happen, we could not only see Capcom characters square off with our favorite cartoon characters but also answer that age old question – Optimus Prime vs. He-Man?
