Rumor has it that there may be a new Kid Icarus game in the works for the Wii. For those of you who have no clue what Kid Icarus is, it was a game from the golden ages of NES that featured this guy:
Well, an 8-bit version of him at least. The above would be the saturday morning cartoon rendition of him on Captain N. His name is the Eggplant Wizard and on Captain N, he teamed up with Metroid’s Mother Brain and Mike Tyson’s Punch Out’s King Hippo to create problems for Captain N, Castlevania’s Simon Belmont and the rest of the good Nintendo posse.
Quite honestly I never actually played Kid Icarus a whole lot. I may have rented it once or twice back in the day, but not much about it has stuck with me over the years.
I know the original was released for the virtual console a while back, and just may be worth revisiting. News of the new incarnation should excite many people though, because if I recall correctly, the original was pretty popular.
On the other hand, I don’t remember there being a huge deal made about Rygar’s return a few years ago.

In a heated exchange with King Hippo, he was given the Flying Hippo Eggplant Jam Slam. He rolled onto his stomach as KH landed on top of him. Before impact, the camera shows three onlookers getting covered in white goo.
Elsewhere, Eggy gets some lubrication for King Hippo to help him out. Then the King says “I’ll toss your salad.”
The blue material and gay jokes provided far more laughs and enjoyment than did the actual series.
