Beautiful Katamari rumored for Wii yet again

Development of Katamari Damacy’s sequel, Beautiful Katamari, could be skipping the PS3 altogether and head to the Wii instead.

Crappy PS3 sales and porting woes have prodded Namco Bandai to cancel Beautiful Katamari for Sony’s new console. The game will be “re-concepted” for Nintendo’s hot-selling Wii:

This is not the first time Katamari has been rumored for Wii. In early 2007, reports of Katamari for Wii began to surface. However, development sources indicated at the time that Namco was not thrilled about the prospect about moving forward with the project, mostly because it was not convinced that Wii would be a success. The game’s original creator has in the past been critical of Nintendo’s platform, too.

Once Nintendo skipped past Sony on the Nikkei Index in market value, Namco Bandai must have felt a little more motivated to build Beautiful Katamari for Wii.
