Businessweek.com recently published their preview of an upcoming war game for the Wii called Battalion Wars 2. The article was written by Steven Wong.
The game will feature toon-shaded graphics just like most of the Wii games that have been released. Players will control different types of soldiers and vehicles in this game to protect and attack territories.
The Nunchuk will be needed to play the game. One of the purposes of the Nunchuk is that it lets a player lock onto targets. If a player flicks his or her wrist, then his or her troops will jump or move sideways to dodge incoming attacks.
As for the Wii Remote, it will be used to move the camera view. It will also be used for attacking or moving the troops (by pressing the ‘A’ button) and firing weapons (by pressing the ‘B’ button).
According to the article, you can command your troops on the fly which means that your team can duck attacks, fight enemies, and perform some other command at the same time.
There will be a total of six playable nations and the units will include land, air, and sea.
I have not seen any promotional media such as trailers or screen shots of this game so I cannot compare its graphics to the other Nintendo Wii games that have been released. It seems like it is the first war game of its kind for the Wii. I know there are other war games for the Wii such as Call of Duty 3 but they are very different from the gameplay of this game.
It was scheduled to be released next month.
