Are You Fit Enough for Wii Fit?
Nintendo announced that the Wii balance board to be released with the game Wii Fit will support a maximum of 299 pounds.
This is interesting because you would think people that weigh more than that would need to play Wii Fit more than the people under 299 pounds.
I really think Nintendo dropped the ball on this one. I mean here you have a revolutionary and likely fun way to exercise, yet the largest people that are looking to thin down will not even be supported by it.
I think the game and balance board are a fantastic concept and will likely sell like hotcakes, and will probably be beneficial to those who are lucky enough to be under the weight limit, but isn’t Nintendo going to be missing out on a large (no pun intended) part of the market here?
I wonder how many people weighing over 300 pounds got that way from sitting around playing video games all the time. This could’ve been their key to a thinner healthier lifestyle.
Maybe Nintendo will release a heavier duty version later.
Wii Fit is going for about 75 bucks in Japan. The price in the U.S. hasn’t been disclosed yet.

Jeffrey, you might be right about that, but I think it could be a good way to start people exercising that might not normally take the initiative to do so.

Well, my eliptical at home only supports 275, and it ain’t one of those cheap and rickety ones either…it’s just short of gym quality. Sometimes, you’re just testing the limits of the feasible materials.
