Analyst on Wii/PS3 sales

:

Analyst Yuta Sakurai has predicted that the PS3 could outsell the Wii by as much as 60% by the year 2011.

Sakurai, who works for Tokyo-based firm Nomura Securities, insists that PS3 will eclipse more than 70 million units in sales by 2011, while the Wii is predicted to sell around 40 million.

Despite this, he is still enthusiastic about Nintendo’s upcoming system, adding “Software developers are increasingly interested in creating games for these Nintendo platforms”

Still, Sakurai believes that the majority of hardcore gamers “will probably prefer the raw power of PS3. And for all the positive vibes right now, the Wii isn’t expected to outsell the PS3.”

Hardly the most authetic statement, seeing as how little is used to back up Sakurais claimes. Additionally, alot of hardcore gamers appear to be more interested in the Wii as of late, considering the high price point of Sony’s new console.
