There’s easter eggs, and secrets hidden in games that I’m sure haven’t been found yet. With the transfer of information across the internet, the amount of secrets are decreasing. However, there is one secret in Punch-Out!! that has gone unnoticed for nearly 22 years and it involves the shiny headed Bald Bull.
During ‘Iwata Asks interview‘, Makato Wada shares the decades old secret,
Wada: This is a great opportunity, so I have something I’d like to say. In Punch-Out!!, the game gives you a lot of hints about effective timing of punches. There is a big boxer called Bald Bull in the NES version as well and a light flashes to the right in the audience when he charges. If you punch when it flashes you will land a body blow.
Tanabe: What? Really?
Wada: No one has known about that for about 22 years…
Everyone: (laughter)
Wada: I was wondering when I would have a chance to tell people that.
Iwata: You’ve been holding that information for 22 years since the release. (laughs)
Wada: Now that I had the chance. (laughs) There are a lot of hidden elements in the NES version.
To prove his words, here’s a video of some Bald Bull gameplay. Sure enough, if you fast forward to 1:18, keep an eye on one of the cameras in the front row that’s on the right side of the screen. The flash is pretty small so it’s no surprise that it’s gone unnoticed for this long.
Come on Wada, give us some more. You know repressing the information is eating you up inside.

@Stone
It’s really tough to see. It happens right at 1:18. If you start from the right hand side and work your way left, it’s the first camera you come across.
